I think lobste.rs has been getting worse for a bit, but at least blocking the vibecoding tag makes it interesting a lot of the time.

Okay we have a bit of an explanation. By restricting a section of code to the "if verbose" condition, which it should have had but didn't, I think you basically end up with a kludgy end-around on an order of execution error which is probably a bug but doesn't show up so long as the code is run from default state.

And there's something funky in Google's almost-certainly-vibecoded godawful agglomeration of CSV and JSON that's tripping up some other values.

But at least we're mostly functional again.

(I hate this so much.)

Sometimes I'm not sure I'm in the right timeline. This definitely has the feel of a William Gibson plot device.
